The world seems to be in chaos. How can there be God?

God Proposes Rather Than Imposes

It is an understatement to say there is chaos in our world. Whether it be the recent COVID-19 pandemic or the wars being waged in Ukraine and other parts of our world, there is no shortage of distress and suffering. Yet to blame God is to ignore the free will God has given us.

So much of our chaos involves human malice, indifference, self-centered pursuits and greed. This is not the way of life God desires for us as manifested in the life and teachings of Jesus.

There is a saying which claims 10% of life is based on what happens to us and 90% on how we respond to it. When we respond according to the Gospel, then seemingly chaotic situations become manifestations of God’s presence rather than the Lord’s absence.
